One of the inherit phobia’s of the aging male, is that of going bald. If you happen to be among the fortunate number who have gone through most of your adulthood with a full head of hair. As w get riper, one of the area’s with a noticable trait is that, we all begin to lose hair. However, recent surveys have shown, this is not a matter to get undully agitated about. Bald men are often seen to be more successful and dominant than men with partial or lush locks, a study from 2012 found, according to Business Insider. Women tend to find hairless men to be larger, stronger, and more powerful. This shouldn’t be coming as a suprise, considering how many shiney domed and very attractive men constantly grace our screens and monitors. Hunks like: RMD, 2Face Idibia, Common, Tyrese, Samuel L Jackson, Micheal Jordan, Mike Colter (Power-man, in the defunct netflix series). The list goes on and on.
Research conducted by Albert E. Mannes (a bald scientist), at the University of Pennsylvania, showed female participants multiple photos of men. The first photo featured a man with a full head of hair and the second one showed that same man with no hair. Most participants reported that they found the bald men to be more attractive overall. One possible explanation could be: Baldness makes an immediate and obvious statement about a guy. “I’m not saying that shaving your head makes you successful, it can start a conversation and it also portrays, that you’r doing something active,” tech-entrepreneur (and bald man) Seth Godin told reporters. Not only do do shaven guys seem more successful, but apparently, they come across as smarter too. Bald men are typically older, and tend to be seen by women as more experienced, intelligent and wiser, according to a separate study conducted at the University of Saarland.
There’s one catch though-bald spots don’t apply here. Men only seem more attractive, intelligent, and successful if they are completely hairless, whereas men with bald spots or patterned baldness tended to be seen as weaker and less attractive. So the next time your fretting about your receding hair-line, or are having a debate on your next hairdo, why not take the plunge and go the whole hog. Chrome dones rock!
