Christian Devotion With Dr Adeyemi Agbelusi

”He recovered all the goods and brought back his relative Lot and his possessions, together with the women and the other people.” (Gen 14:16)

Abraham had settled in the land of Canaan with all his family and afterwards he heard that Lot and his clan had been captured by five strong kings of the cities of Sodom, Gomorrah, Adman, Zeboiim and Zoar and taken to captivity.

Abraham has every right to rejoice that his “Enemy” had been destroyed and God had avenged him. This is the wrong attitudes of believers today, however, Abraham took 318 men trained for war from his household and went to fight and recover his nephew Lot from captivity.

Abraham knew that if he did not rise and fight the five kings who had captured Lot, once they had intelligence against him, his family would be the next target. The church today is under attack because it was supposed to take trained men and attack the gates of Hell, however, she sat pretty in very comfortable environment doing politics to grab power in the house of God until the armies of hell surrounded and infiltrated the church and trample her on every side.

Abraham fought and conquered the five kings and recovered his nephew Lot and also received a great spoil of material possession that made him richer and more powerful. The church had also initially gone out to possess the nations, lost focus and turned inwards, for example the first political party was started by the church but the secular society owns the political space today, while we socio-economic and educational policies that are designed by them, make our citizens especially the youths suffer.

Abram did the needful at the right time and God empowered him to conquer the five kings and overcome five armies with only 318 men which was a miracle. On his way back, he meet the kings of righteousness and peace, Melchizedek, who blessed him and he paid a tithe. Abram had done well and he would have dominion on both the land of Canaan and all the surrounding nations, therefore, he could live in peace. Alleluia!!!
